Small Equipment Operators are responsible for operating equipment including, but not limited to, paper balers, front-end loaders, bobcats, and forklifts to transport or bind paper or loose materials to facilitate handling as well as load or unload materials into trailers or railcars.

Schedule: Monday - Friday

Hours: 7:00 am - 9:00 pm

Responsibilities of Position:
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Perform safe driving practices while transporting, loading, and unloading loose or baled materials.
  • Safely stack baled material in a manner that does not endanger personnel, equipment, or materials.
  • Organize and secure stored materials in accordance with policy.
  • Conduct pre-trip/post-trip inspections on equipment and complete necessary forms.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Monitor for signs of unacceptable material.
  • Weigh, tag, log, and prepare baled materials for transport.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Clean waste from equipment throughout the day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities Needed:
  • Must pass written and operational tests to be licensed to operate forklift and bobcat.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including prolonged exertions such as sitting, standing, reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
  • Ability to maneuver equipment through tight areas and high traffic zones.
  • Ability to work in various plant conditions, including exposure to weather elements.
  • Good verbal communication skills to interact effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand and respond to questions, directions, and safety training.
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuously lift, carry, push, and pull up to 10 lbs., frequently up to 35 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Continuously sit, stand, walk, and perform activities like stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Work outdoors and indoors, often in areas with dust, odors, gases, and airborne matter.
Additional Conditions:
  • Potential exposure to high traffic and tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Flexible working hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable).
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing.
  • Must read and speak English proficiently.
