Job summary

BrightView Landscapes, LLC is seeking a Small to Medium Engine Mechanic to repair and maintain landscape equipment, manage preventive maintenance programs, and service trucks and trailers.

The role requires diagnosing engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, welding and fabrication, scheduling repairs with branch teams, and maintaining inventory. A High School degree or GED and 1 year of mechanical experience are expected, with CDL eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

• High School degree or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year of mechanical experience.
• Experience with 2- and 4-cycle engines.
• Able to weld and fabricate equipment for repairs or modifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair problems with 2 and 4-cycle engines.
• Diagnose and repair problems in fuel, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose and repair problems of other equipment as presented (Everything from a backpack blower to a sidewalk machine).
• Weld and/or fabrication for repairs.
• Diagnose and perform light repairs on trucks and trailers.
• Schedule all repairs/maintenance with branch production personnel.
• Establish Preventive Maintenance Program for branch(es).
• Work with branch(es) on scheduling preventive maintenance.
• Follow up and monitor preventive maintenance in branch(es).
• Work with branch(es) to ensure all preventive maintenance supplies are on hand and available for branch teams.
• Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers.
• Ensure annual DOT inspection is completed for all licensed vehicles.
• Estimate parts and labor involved to determine the most cost effective course in repair/replacement decisions.
• Stay aware of new equipment and advances in the field.
• Look for trends to help determine if equipment is right for job.
• Communicate identified trends to Equipment Manager.
• Purchase equipment-related parts and supplies from designated vendors.
• Maintain and control parts room/inventory.
• Utilize corporate-sponsored supply programs wherever available.
• Understand, monitor, and review vendor pricing structures.
• Stay current with new techniques and methods.
• Attend manufacturer sponsored seminars.
