Job summary

Zachry Group in Texas is seeking an Industrial Carpenter Helper 1 to assist in constructing, dismantling, and repairing wooden and metal forms on job sites.

You will identify tools and safety risks, help measure, mark, and cut materials, assist with concrete and wooden forms, and contribute to decks and other wooden structures while following all safety rules and wearing PPE.

This role requires physical endurance, reliable transportation, and a willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Industrial Construction as a Carpenter Helper.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and basic building techniques.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.
• Willingness to work full schedule and overtime as needed.
• Must follow safety rules and site regulations.

Responsibilities

• Identify tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions to mitigate them.
• Assist in measuring, marking, and cutting wood/metal to spec.
• Assist in constructing, reinforcing, and dismantling concrete forms.
• Assist in building wooden forms.
• Assist on miscellaneous construction projects (decks, steps, bulletin boards, etc.).
• Maintain clean work areas.

Job Description

Industrial Carpenter Helper 1 will assist in the construction, dismantling, and repair of wooden and metal objects and/or concrete forms.

Position Responsibilities

• Ability to identify all tools required for tasks.
• Ability to identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Assist in the measurement, marking, and cutting of wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Assist in the construction, re-enforcement, and dismantling of pre-constructed concrete forms.
• Assist in building and constructing wooden forms.
• Assist on miscellaneous construction projects such as but not limited to building decks and steps, building bulletin boards, and building any additional wooden structures.
• Clean up/housekeeping of work areas.

Physical Requirements

• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull: objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off of platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.

• Must be able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must be able and willing to follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Must have reliable transportation.

• Must have 2+ years of experience working in Industrial Construction as a Carpenter Helper
• Must have knowledge of materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
• Must be able to computer basic arithmetic functions.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be able to work full work schedule and any additional overtime as needed
• Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
• Must have required tools.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

• Current Zachry/JV employee
• Zachry/JV ROF’ed employee.
• Formal/Technical education.
• Experience working with carpentry, concrete, and rebar.
