Job summary

UCEDC, a nonprofit economic development corporation in New Jersey, seeks an experienced loan underwriter for small business lending. You will review applications, analyze credit and financial statements, underwrite loans, and prepare closing documents while staying current with SBA lending requirements and UCEDC SOPs.

The role reports to the Director of Microlending and offers a compensation range aligned with market norms in New Jersey.

Qualifications

• 3+ years small business lending experience at a bank or other financial institution.
• Experience analyzing credit reports and business tax returns/financial statements.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects.
• Familiarity with SBA lending program requirements considered a plus.
• Good presentation skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Review applications and discuss with potential borrowers.
• Analyze personal credit reports and business/personal cash flow and financial statements.
• Underwrite loan applications and submit for internal approval.
• Prepare loan documentation and follow up on closing.
• Maintain current knowledge of the SBA lending program requirements and SOPs as well as UCEDC lending program requirements.
