Job summary

The Small Business Development Center at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Business Consultant (Outreach Specialist, OE009) to support entrepreneurs across multiple counties. This 12-month, 60% FTE, part-time role focuses on advising clients, conducting workshops, and connecting businesses with resources.

You will deliver confidential consulting, use SBDC tools, and collaborate with local organizations to foster growth in Dodge, Jefferson, Rock, and Walworth counties.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field.
• Several years of successful small business experience.
• Knowledge and background in business and financial management practices.
• Effective written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, budget, and be accountable for a complex range of services to small business communities.

Responsibilities

• Small Business Consulting (40%): advise on feasibility, business plans, start-up issues, financial projections.
• Networking (50%): build relationships with local business groups and lenders; attend events.
• Programming and regional economic development support (10%): guest speaking and regional events participation.
