Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA seeks an SLS Materials Scientist to build and validate world-class SLS materials from initial lab explorations through commercialization. You will drive research that advances material performance for next-gen solutions, collaborating with product, hardware, and software teams to iteratively improve formulations based on user feedback.

Qualifications

  • Experience bringing a new material to market from ideation to production.
  • Solid understanding of materials science and polymer product development.
  • Hands-on thermo-plastic engineering experience.
  • Passionate about testing and troubleshooting, not afraid to test hundreds of times.
  • Ability to design and conduct rigorous experiments to optimize materials.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiative to learn new skills.
  • Appreciates the value of good documentation.
  • B.S., M.S., or PhD in a relevant science or engineering field.

Responsibilities

  • Build world-class SLS materials for 3D printing from lab explorations to commercialization.
