PUTNAM COUNTY SCHOOLS in West Virginia is seeking a Mentor Teacher – Speech/Language Pathologist to support beginning teachers through a formal assistant program. The assignment is itinerant across locations, with regular observations, conferences and ongoing coaching.

The stipend is paid by the WV Department of Education for the 2026-27 school year. Applicants must have five years of teaching experience and hold a Master’s degree or advanced training in teacher effectiveness.

Qualifications

Five years of teaching experience.
Must participate in training program.
Master’s degree and/or previous advanced training in teacher effectiveness.
Willingness to assist new teachers and perform assigned responsibilities such as regular observations/conferences.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

Participate in a formal beginning teacher assistance program and help resolve problems of beginning teachers through assistance and support.
Conduct classroom observations and follow-up conferences concerning teaching techniques, classroom management skills, and improved relationships with students.
Assist with identifying goals and objectives and assist with self-evaluation of intern teachers.
Provide ongoing support and assistance to new employee; align with program requirements.
