Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to assess and plan individualized education for students with speech and language impairments in multiple school locations. This itinerant role requires collaboration with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver targeted interventions.

The position emphasizes completing IEPs, ESER/RR reports, and ensuring compliance with CSPG and state/federal mandates.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
• PDE Teaching or Educational Specialist Certification per CSPG.
• ASHA CCC or CF candidate.
• Clearances (Act 34, Act 151, Act 114, PDE6004, Act 168) required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct formal evaluations of students, ages 3-21, to determine eligibility for SLI under IDEA and its impact on education.
• Develop and complete PA standardized evaluation reports (ER/RR) and IEPs with timelines.
• Facilitate IEP in delivering services for speech, language, and communication disorders.
• Maintain accurate student records and prepare reports supporting education and compliance.
• Provide training to family caregivers and other professionals on communication skills.
• Collaborate with other professionals to coordinate team-based student programs.
