Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. in Wheeling, IL is hiring a Slitter Operator (MS1) to set up and operate the slitter and multi-head traverse machine on the 2nd shift. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficient production of copper products.

Shift differential applies and pay is hourly. Responsibilities include material inspection, machine operation and setup, coil handling, and ensuring adherence to specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with heavy metals or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and write English and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Previous machine operating experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect material prior to running to ensure gauge, width, camber and burr meet specifications.
• Contact Shift Lead for edge, width, gauge and surface checks; inspect weld and coil dimensions.
• Run the machine, monitor and adjust reel parameters for consistency and quality.
• Adjust welder settings to maintain high-quality welds and monitor production.
• Perform final coil inspections, label reels, and wrap as required.
• Check production priorities in WFS, build machine set-ups with GAM B and MMS checks.
• Cross-train in other finishing areas and maintain 5S/6S and safety standards.
