Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc in Wheeling, IL is hiring a Slitter Operator (MS1) to safely set up and operate the slitter and multi-head traverse machine on-site. The role requires focus on quality, adherence to safety, and timely production within a 2nd shift schedule (Mon-Fri, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM) with a $21–$25/hour pay range and $0.50 shift differential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with heavy metals or manufacturing preferred.
• Proficient with calipers and micrometers and other measuring tools.
• Able to read and write English and perform basic math.
• Previous machine operating experience preferred.
• Completed at least four weeks of supervised on-the-job training.
• Ability to work well in a team and maintain a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Inspect material: check gauge, width, camber, and burr direction to specifications.
• Run the machine: monitor and adjust reel parameters for quality reels.
• Remove material and pack reels: final coil inspections and proper labeling.
• Production & equipment operations: follow production priorities, set up machines, verify samples, and maintain safe conditions.
