Job summary

Combined Metals Company, LLC in Elgin, IL is seeking a versatile manufacturing operator to support coil slitting, measurement, and quality control within a safety-focused team.

You will operate slitters, read blueprints, use calipers/micrometers, train with certified programs, and contribute to continuous improvement across nine service centers.

Manufacturing experience preferred; High school diploma required; strong teamwork and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring instruments.
• Sufficient ability to maintain records and reports.

Responsibilities

• Promote a strong safety culture and follow all plant safety policies.
• Operate and adjust slitters to process metal coils per specifications.
• Inspect material during processing to ensure quality standards.
• Identify, document, and properly label slit materials.
• Repair minor mechanical issues and troubleshoot equipment.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other machinery safely.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
• Communicate effectively with team members and escalation issues as needed.
• Assist with bulk product inspections and defect removal.
• Participate in training and certification programs.
• Train new operators when necessary.
• Use precision tools (micrometers, calipers) for quality control.
• Other duties as assigned
