Job summary

Vorteq Coil Finishers, LLC is seeking a Slitting Line Operator to operate slitter equipment and ensure the finished product meets quality specs. The role includes data entry to label and identify slit material and maintain overall product quality.

Training occurs weekdays 7am-3pm, with transition to evening or night shifts post-training. This is a full-time position with 24/7 operation and premium pay on weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Proficient reading and writing.
• Basic math skills; calculator use and a basic math test may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate slitter equipment to meet specifications and quality standards.
• Set up, adjust and run slitter to minimize waste.
• Handle materials and coils using approved equipment.
• Meet production schedules and priorities with supervisor.
• Complete production reports accurately and timely.

Job description

Summary

The primary function of the Slitting Line Operator is to operate the required equipment necessary for the finished product slitting specifications and quality requirements. This position also functions as the data entry clerk to properly label, and tag identify all slit material and is responsible for the overall quality of the slit product.

*Training will take place Monday-Friday 7am-3pm. Once trained this position will transition to either the 3pm-11pm or 11pm-7am shift.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform all duties to the safety standards established as they relate to the position.
• Performs set up, adjustments and operation of slitter equipment in such a manner as to minimize waste material.
• Qualified to operate material handling equipment for placement and transporting of coils to and from slitter.
• Capable of meeting change over and production standards and schedules.
• Required to understand the meaning of a quality product and identify solvent pops, roll lines, starve out, etc.
• Performs work according to finished slitting specifications and product quality requirements.
• Accurately completes required production reports.
• Works closely with other slitter team members to complete all work orders.
• Review scheduled orders with supervisor in order to determine production priorities.

Marginal Duties

• Keeps working areas clean and orderly at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Manufacturing plant environment with dirt, dust and temperature fluctuations based on seasonal conditions with minimal fans and heaters.
• Large machinery with moving parts as well as forklift traffic and material storage.
• Breaks are unscheduled and machinery must be attended at all times.
