Job summary

Rolled Metal Products, Inc. is seeking a Slitter Operator for the second shift (7:30 PM - 6:00 AM, Mon-Thu) to maintain production on the slitter line and meet operational goals.

Your daily duties include setting up arbors, monitoring gauge and tooling, and ensuring coils meet customer specifications. You will operate forklifts and overhead cranes, document exact specifications, and collaborate with the Slitter Helper to maximize efficiency while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of machine operating experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up by placing spacers/knives on arbors and cut coils to specs.
• Monitor cutting process and adjust gauge as needed.
• Produce metal per customer specs and quality requirements.
• Enter exact specifications on forms for data entry.
• Direct Slitter Helper for efficient coil staging.
• Notify supervisor when supplies are low.
• Safely operate forklift to move coils and skids.
• Operate overhead crane to move coils to/from slitter area.
• Keep work area clean and organized all day.
• Use precision tools (tape measures, micrometers, calipers).
• Cross-train Slitter Helper.
• Adhere to safety rules and company policies.

Job description

The Slitter Operator is responsible for the overall productivity of the slitter line to meet or exceed operational goals set by the Operations Manager.

This is a second shift position with a schedule of 7:30 PM - 6:00 AM Monday - Thursday.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Slitter Operator position. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.

• Build set-ups by placing spacers and knives onto the slitter arbors and cut metal coils to customer specifications.
• Monitor the process of metal being cut and adjust equipment accordingly for the gauge of the material.
• Produce metal products to conform to customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Enter data legibly and accurately of the exact specifications onto the appropriate forms for eventual data entry into the computer.
• Direct Slitter Helper how to stage coils to be processed for maximum efficiency.
• Inform Operations Manager when supplies to perform job duties are in low supply.
• Safely drive the forklift in the plant to move coils and skids to designated areas.
• Operate the over-head crane to move coils to the slitter from storage and/or from the slitter to next appropriate area.
• Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.
• Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers.
• Cross train the Slitter Helper.
• Adhere to all RMP safety rules, regulations, handbook policies and procedures, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years machine operating experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:

• 2+ years coil slitting experience
