Job summary

TekniPlex is seeking a Slitter Operator for the night shift to convert master rolls per production orders and customer specs. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include operating the slitting line, labeling accuracy, scrap reduction, and daily paperwork. Ideal candidates have manufacturing experience and are able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read/write/speak English.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Standing for entire shift and heavy lifting required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred, forklift experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow TekniPlex safety rules and GMP practices.
• Load machine payoff, thread material through the slitter, and start production.
• Validate labels from computer onto corresponding rolls.
• Set up spacers and knives on shafts, adjust tension and guides.
• Ensure product quality, minimize scrap, and maximize utilization.
• Document daily production and communicate issues timely.
• Stack rolls per packaging specs and meet productivity targets.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of the Slitter Operator position is to convert in-process or finished master rolls per production order and customer's specifications.

Shift hours: 10:45pm - 7:00am

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Slitter Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the slitting process to convert in-process or finished master rolls per production order and customer's specifications while maintaining production requirements, quality standards, and established safety procedures. The position is responsible for producing quality products in a timely manner while maximizing material utilization, minimizing scrap, and supporting overall production efficiency.

• Follow all Tekniplex plant safety rules and standards.


• Maintain good housekeeping practices.


• Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).


• Load a machine payoff using an overhead hoist and thread the material through the machine initially by hand and then jogging it through the cutting press.


• Input data into the shop floor PC, check and validate labels are correct from computer on to the corresponding rolls.


• Selects, cleans, install spacers and knives on shafts.


• Threads sheeting through slitter and verifies dimension of slit specifications.


• Secures slit strips on cores, adjusts guides and roller tension, thread edge trim to scrap winder and start machine.


• Observes slitting and rewinding operation and examines cut strips for flatness, wrinkles and other defects.


• Will observe the machine and is required to communicate scrap, mechanical or quality issues timely.


• Responsible for arranging stacking rolls according to packaging specification.


• Responsible for meeting standards relating to productivity, quality and scrap daily.


• Filling out and submitting required paperwork daily.


• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous manufacturing experience preferred


• Previous forklift experience is preferred


• 2 years of experience in manufacturing facility is preferred


• Excellent communication skills for this hands-on role


• Must be able to read/writing/speak English


• Minimum of a High School Diploma


• Safety conscious


• Comfortable standing for entire shift


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively
