Job summary

Freudenberg Performance Materials LP (USA) is seeking an Operator II to support slitting and finishing operations in a North Carolina manufacturing environment. You will operate and monitor slitting and winding equipment, set up for proper speeds and tensions, inspect products, and ensure adherence to customer specifications and safety standards.

You will document production records and assist with changeovers as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Manufacturing experience, preferably in nonwoven or textile.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft applications.
• Familiarity with process control systems, quality checks, and inspection.
• Prior slitter machine operation experience required.
• Must read rulers and fractions and perform basic math.
• Ability to work well with others in a diverse workforce.
• Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor slitting and winding equipment to meet specs and quality requirements.
• Set up slitting equipment for correct speeds, dimensions, tensions, and lengths.
• Inspect products and verify conformance; correct deviations as needed.
• Document production records and update planning systems.
• Support changeovers and product transitions for slitting operations.
• Provide hands-on guidance and safety ownership within slitting operations.
• Assist troubleshooting with production and maintenance teams.
• Maintain adherence to SOPs, safety, and quality in slitting.
• Identify and address process or equipment issues related to slitting.
• Perform other duties within slitting and production operations.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities of Operator II, including production support, inspection, material handling, and process monitoring, in addition to slitting and finishing operations
• Maintain awareness of applicable health, safety, and environmental requirements and individual responsibilities
• Operate and monitor slitting and winding equipment to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality requirements
• Set up and adjust slitting equipment for proper speeds, cutting dimensions, tensions, and lengths based on material specifications and work orders
• Monitor product quality during slitting operations and verify conformance to specifications, identifying and correcting deviations as needed
• Identify process or equipment issues related to slitting and take appropriate corrective action or escape as necessary
• Support troubleshooting efforts related to slitting and finishing processes in coordination with production and maintenance teams
• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and quality expectations within slitting operations
• Accurately document production records and update material planning and production systems
• Support product transitions and changeovers as they relate to slitting operations, ensuring proper setup and stable operation
• Provide hands-on support and guidance to team members in slitting-related tasks and best practices
• Demonstrate ownership of safety, process integrity, and operational consistency within slitting operations
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of slitting and production operations

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in nonwoven or textile production
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Basic computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft business applications
• Familiarity with process control systems, quality checks, and inspection
• Prior Slitter machine operation experience required
• Must be able to read a ruler and understand fractions, and demonstrate basic math skills
• Must be able to work well with others and in a diverse workforce environment
• Forklift experience preferred

Physical requirements

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Prolonged periods of standing
• Ability to sit, stand for the majority of the shift
• Ability to walk, jump, twist, turn, stop, bend, push, pull, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, balance, drive, reach above shoulder, repetitive hand/wrist movement, forearm rotation.
• Manual dexterity to evaluate, install, and modify equipment
• Must be able to pass physical requirements to drive a forklift.
