Job summary

Constantia Flexibles in Blythewood, SC is seeking a Slitter Operator Assistant to join the production team. You will learn to operate the slitter and rewinder, support quality checks and paperwork, and help ensure on-spec product from slitting through packaging.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills (SAP/PDC), and are able to work a 12-hour 2-2-3 shift while maintaining strict safety and GMP standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
• Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work a 12-hour shift on a 2-2-3 schedule.
• Basic computer skills including SAP and PDC.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate the slitter and rewinder as part of the Production Team.
• Perform quality checks and adjust the slitter/rewinder to meet specs.
• Read and understand work orders and maintain accurate paperwork (SAP/PDC).
• Identify and resolve visual defects and ensure zero defects for customers.
• Adhere to Safety and GMP requirements and perform routine maintenance and cleaning.

Includes The Following. Other Duties Might Be Assigned

• Learn how to operate slitter and the rewinder as a member of the Production Team who is

multi-skilled and cross-trained on all department process equipment.

• Develop process trouble shooting including visual defect detection.
• Read and understand work orders for current jobs and upcoming jobs including specifications.
• Maintain accurate paperwork, SAP/ PDC functions for jobs.
• Perform quality checks and make slitter and rewinder adjustments during start-up.
• Perform quality checks and periodically throughout the run and adjust the slitter accordingly to

ensure zero defects to the customer.

• Perform daily and periodic cleaning and preventative maintenance in order to maintain

standards throughout the manufacturing area.

• Observe and make recommendations on all issues regarding safety, quality, waste, and

production.

• Monitor product quality, obtain and measure samples.
• Learn all measurements and begin identifying and resolving visual defects and finish rolls that

do not meet customer quality specifications.

• All other duties appropriate to the position as assigned or required.

Knowledge

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills

• Basic knowledge of computer software and functions, including PDC and SAP functions.
