Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Sleep Technologist to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, patient education, and oversight of sleep center staff.

The role requires NY licensure as a Polysomnographic Technologist, RST/RPSGT/SDS credentials, and a minimum of three years of polysomnography experience. Strong knowledge of safety protocols and ability to score sleep stages is essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or the equivalent.
• Associate or higher degree program in polysomnographic technology preferred.
• 3 years minimum experience as a Polysomnographic Technician or Technologist.
• Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist licensed in New York State in good standing.
• Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify and meet the patient-specific needs.
• Determines final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
• Reviews the patients history and verifies the medical order. Follows sleep center protocols related to the sleep study.
• Explains the procedure and orients the patient for sleep testing.
• Applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
• Implements appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention).
• Scores sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines.
• Scores clinical events utilizing AASM standards.
• Generates accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
