Job summary

Endeavor Health System is seeking a Sleep Technologist to perform polysomnograms, CPAP titration, and MSLTs under supervision. You will learn scoring and adhere to AASM guidelines while ensuring accurate data and patient comfort in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires flexibility for travel between locations, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a mix of patient groups. CST/CRT certification and ASTEP completion are preferred, along with strong teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

  • Completion of the American Sleep Technologists Education Program (ASTEP).
  • Experience in polysomnography or teaching hospital setting is desirable.
  • Must be able to work with diverse patient populations and use standard terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Performs polysomnograms following department guidelines.
  • Conducts CPAP titration and adjusts levels accordingly.
  • Administers MSLTs and scores studies per AASM guidelines.
  • Annotates recordings thoroughly and maintains logs and forms.
  • Troubleshoots equipment with Tech II assistance and educates patients.

Hourly Pay Range:$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.Position Highlights:Position: Sleep TechnologistLocation: Bannockburn, ILFull Time/Part Time: Full Time (40 hours per week)Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PMRequired Travel: This role includes some travel to other locations and requires flexible hours to meet operational needsA Brief Overview:Work under direct supervision of a tech II, to perform Polysomnograms, CPAP titration, MSLT and learn how to score records.What you will do:Performs polysomnograms.Following departments guidelines performs CPAP titration adjusting levels appropriately .Performs MSLTs (Multiple Sleep Latency Testing).Scores at least one study during the night shift by applying AASM guidelines and Sleep center protocolsAnnotates recordings thoroughly. Marks all movements, changes in controls, activation, any unusual events and changes.Allocates file number to recording, records patient name in log book and transfers data to network.Fills out all necessary forms (patient history, tech report sheet, billing and patient consent forms).Troubleshoots equipment problems with assistance from Tech II.Educates patients (explains Polysomnography, CPAP titration and MSLT).Attends record review sessions with polysomnographers and other technologists.Study for RPSGT registration.Attends seminars and pursues work related educational programs independently.Keeps current with technology updates.Strives for team results rather than personal gain.Learn how to score polysomnograms and MSLTs.Strives for team results rather than personal gain.Assists others as the need arises.Supports others and provides positive feedback.Is supportive of the department and management decisions.Demonstrates enthusiasm and persistence for what is needed.Anticipates needs of others and proceeds to meet needs.Offers ideas, acts to solve problems without being assigned the task.Sets and accomplishes goals.Meets Endeavor Health System attendance and tardiness standards.Follows through on projects and assignments.Manages time effectively.Is flexible in responding to daily problems.Provides competent and timely services to all customers.Seeks input from customers to enable delivery of quality services.Identifies problems relating to quality and attempts to resolve them appropriately.Follows department and hospital risk management and infection control practices.Is committed to personal and professional growth through continuing education and professional involvement.Knowledge and demonstration of Endeavor Health System customer service standards.Provides service based on physical, psychological, educational and related criteria, appropriate to the age and type of the patients.What you will need:High School Required OrZero to one (0-1) year of experience as a polysomnographic technologist in a teaching hospital.College level neuroanatomy is desirable. Knowledge of the respiratory system. Competency in medical terminology. Must be patient, have good interpersonal skills and be able to treat patients of various ages (babies to geriatric adults), backgrounds, with and without mental and/or physical limitations with respect and dignity.
