Endeavor Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Neurology Unit (Nights) in Arlington Heights, IL. This part-time role (24 hours/week) supports patient care under RN/LPN supervision, including basic nursing tasks, vitals, EKGs, specimen collection, and EMR documentation.

The position requires CNA certification or EMT/paramedic training or nursing program enrollment with clinical rotations, CPR, and a passion for compassionate care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Complete accredited CNA course and CNA certification exam.
• EMT or paramedics training required.
• Enrollment in accredited nursing program with at least one major clinical rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care needs under RN/LPN supervision.
• Assist with exercising and ambulating patients using proper body mechanics.
• Obtain vitals, input/output checks, and accu-checks; report abnormalities.
• Perform procedures such as EKGs, perineal care, Foley bag care, restraints, backrubs as directed.
• Collect specimens (urine, feces, sputum) and deliver as needed.
• Document basic patient care in the EMR.
• Assist with admitting, discharging, transferring, and transporting patients.
• Answer unit phones and direct calls to appropriate parties.
• May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.

Hourly Pay Range:$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.Patient Care Technician - Neurology Unit – NightsPosition Highlights:Position: Patient Care Technician - Neurology Unit – NightsLocation: Arlington Heights, ILPart time, 24 hours/weekMust be able to attend a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday Orientation from about 8:00am-4:30pm on the week of starting.Hours: 7:00pm-7:30am, Every other weekend requiredRequired Travel: NoWhat you will do:Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.Obtains patient vital signs, input and output checks, and accu-checks, and reports abnormalities to the nurse. As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKG’s, perineal care, emptying of foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc. Collects specimens such as urine, feces, sputum, and delivers as necessary. Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety as directed. Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties.
