Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Sleep Technologist in Bannockburn, IL. The role is full-time with a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, and involves polysomnography, CPAP titration, and MSLT with patient education.

The ideal candidate has 0–1 year of experience as a polysomnographic technologist, ASTEP completion, and demonstrates teamwork, professionalism, and adaptability across locations. Some travel and flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of experience as a polysomnographic technologist in a teaching hospital.
• Completion of the American Sleep Technologists Education Program (ASTEP).
• Ability to work with patients of varying ages and abilities with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Perform polysomnograms.
• Conduct CPAP titration and adjust levels appropriately.
• Perform MSLTs.
• Score studies following AASM guidelines and center protocols.
• Annotate recordings and log data accurately.
• Prepare patient history and forms for billing and records.
• Educate patients about polysomnography, CPAP titration and MSLT.
• Maintain up-to-date with technology and contribute to team goals.

Position Highlights

• Required Travel: This role includes some travel to other locations and requires flexible hours to meet operational needs

A Brief Overview

Work under direct supervision of a tech II, to perform Polysomnograms, CPAP titration, MSLT and learn how to score records.

What You Will Do

• Performs polysomnograms.
• Following departments guidelines performs CPAP titration adjusting levels appropriately .
• Performs MSLTs (Multiple Sleep Latency Testing).
• Scores at least one study during the night shift by applying AASM guidelines and Sleep center protocols
• Annotates recordings thoroughly. Marks all movements, changes in controls, activation, any unusual events and changes.
• Allocates file number to recording, records patient name in log book and transfers data to network.
• Fills out all necessary forms (patient history, tech report sheet, billing and patient consent forms).
• Troubleshoots equipment problems with assistance from Tech II.
• Educates patients (explains Polysomnography, CPAP titration and MSLT).
• Attends record review sessions with polysomnographers and other technologists.
• Study for RPSGT registration.
• Attends seminars and pursues work related educational programs independently.
• Keeps current with technology updates.

What You Will Need

• High School Required Or
• Zero to one (0-1) year of experience as a polysomnographic technologist in a teaching hospital.
• College level neuroanatomy is desirable. Knowledge of the respiratory system. Competency in medical terminology. Must be patient, have good interpersonal skills and be able to treat patients of various ages (babies to geriatric adults), backgrounds, with and without mental and/or physical limitations with respect and dignity. Must be able to work as a team player (i.e. with physicians, other medical staff and colleagues).
• Completion of the American Sleep Technologists Education Program (ASTEP).
