Job description

UPMC Western Maryland is hiring a Part-time Sleep Technologist to support our Sleep Lab!

This is a part-time, 20-hour/week position. The role involves day/night shift hours, occasional weekend shifts on Sundays, and no holiday shifts required.

The salary and specific title will be determined at the time of offer and will be commensurate with experience. The salary range and qualifications provided are for the Senior Sleep Technologist position. A senior sleep technologist is a registered professional with at least 3 years of clinical experience, working under the supervision of the lead sleep technologist and in collaboration with department management. They can perform all duties of a sleep technologist and provide oversight to other staff due to expanded responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Under the supervision of the medical director or designee, utilize critical thinking and follow departmental policies to prepare for sleep studies, including reviewing patient charts, testing orders, and ensuring proper patient identification.
  • Set up sleep studies by applying electrodes and sensors according to AASM guidelines, and explain testing procedures to patients.
  • Perform all aspects of in-center and out-of-center sleep study acquisition with a focus on quality and patient care.
  • Analyze and score sleep studies accurately.
  • Maintain equipment and patient rooms; perform routine equipment maintenance and restock lab supplies.
  • Demonstrate ongoing scoring competency by completing the monthly AASM ISR requirements.
  • Participate in departmental projects under supervision.
  • Adhere to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
