Job summary

New York Pulmonary Consultants, a division of Stony Brook Community Medical, PC, is seeking a Sleep Technologist for overnight sleep testing in a pulmonology setting. Part-time/per diem position with responsibilities including pre-test preparation and patient education.

Qualified candidates are Certified Respiratory Therapists or RPSGTs. Daytime duties may include scoring studies, preparing reports, and PAP therapy desensitization. Salary is $45–$50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Respiratory Therapist and/or RPSGT.
• Physically capable for lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Overnight sleep testing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform overnight sleep testing for a pulmonary practice.
• Carefully preparing for the sleep study prior to the patient’s arrival.
• Explain the procedure to the patient.
• Calibrate and conduct sleep testing as required.
• Opportunities for daytime responsibilities including scoring the study, preparing reports, mask interface fitting and desensitization to PAP therapy.

Description

New York Pulmonary Consultants is a division of Stony Brook Community Medical, PC and SB Administrative Services which provides management services for the practices of Stony Brook Community Medical, PC. Our network of community-based physicians work closely with the physicians at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital, Affiliated community hospitals and with other medical professionals to enhance the coordination of the medical care for every patient in the communities we serve.

Required Qualifications

• Must be either a certified respiratory therapist and/or RPSGT (Registered polysomnography technician)

Physical Demands:

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
