Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health in Hershey, PA, seeks a part-time Human Research Technologist to support overnight sleep studies, run PSGs, monitor procedures, and ensure data quality during clinical trials in human subjects.

Work hours: 3rd shift, up to 40 hours/week, for a 16-week assignment. Responsibilities include lab upkeep, data management, and collaboration with coordinators and investigators.

Qualifications

• Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred.
• Candidates with prior training in sleep studies will be considered if they have suitable work experience.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings; monitor and track research studies to ensure quality control.
• Perform PSGs and participate in the collection of Actigraphy, and other research participant data.
• Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies.
• Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine).
• Participate in aspects of sleep data management for assigned projects including: update and maintain databases; resolve problem data issues; track data collection forms, and other project materials; perform verification procedures.
• Collaborate with project coordinators, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.
