Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Hazleton, PA is seeking a Polysomnographic Technician Trainee to perform initial polysomnographic testing and related duties under supervision within the sleep disorders program.

The role includes patient information gathering, equipment calibration, and ensuring proper data acquisition with continuous monitoring, while progressing toward RPSGT certification. Training emphasizes safety, accuracy, and adherence to department protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate patient care.
• Strong computer skills for data entry.
• BLS certification within 90 days after hire.
• RPSGT certification within 3 years.
• Valid PA driver's license at hire.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and analyzes patient information including review of history.
• Prepares and calibrates testing equipment.
• Communicates the testing procedure to the patient to provide a level of understanding.
• Performs bio-calibrations and impedance testing to ensure the integrity of the record.
• Assists in Polysomnographic Record Scoring and Reporting per department protocols.
• Provides sleep equipment hook up and ensures appropriate data acquisition while maintaining continuous visual and auditory monitoring of patient and clinical events on the recording.
• Implements appropriate interventions to eliminate artifact on the record.
• Documents observations and pertinent clinical information accurately and concisely into the patient's medical record.
• Performs post-test procedures including proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of equipment.
