Job summary

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Respiratory Care, Biology, Health Sciences or successful completion of a polysomnographic certification program.
  • RPSGT certification is required.
  • Six months of related polysomnographic or allied health patient-care experience.
  • Knowledge of PSG testing procedures and equipment maintenance.
  • Understanding sleep staging and ability to summarize results for physician review.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews requests for polysomnographic testing and prepares the lab.
  • Sets up PSG equipment and verifies electrode placement for accurate readings.
  • Explains procedures to patients and caregivers to ensure cooperation and calm sleep.
  • Monitors tests and alerts physicians as needed, initiating CPR if indicated.
  • Scores and interprets sleep traces and prepares written reports for physicians.
  • Maintains inventory and ensures safety, sanitation and infection control.
