Position Summary

We are seeking a well-rounded Slate Consultant with experience across Student Success, Advancement, and Admissions to join our growing team. The Slate Consultant will lead engagements across a portfolio of client accounts, focusing on Slate implementations, ongoing support, and capacity extension. Leveraging strong product knowledge and hands‑on Slate experience, you will help clients develop best‑practice configurations, troubleshoot challenges, and develop effective strategies for solving complex business process needs.


Our approach is highly collaborative and focused on empowering clients. Rather than simply doing the work for them, we prioritize teaching users how to effectively manage and optimize Slate themselves. Our goal is for every client to feel confident, capable, and well‑prepared to maximize the value of Slate long after our engagement ends.


This is a role for someone who enjoys finding ways to make things work better. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical thinker with strong project management skills and significant Slate experience. You are energized by designing processes, building systems, and creating solutions that improve the client experience. You have a strong bias toward execution, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to see how individual pieces fit together to create a cohesive, efficient, and successful whole.


Responsibilities


  • Establish a trusted relationship with clients and work to ensure their overall satisfaction and success with Slate

  • Create and manage strategic success plans and project timelines for clients

  • Work to understand client processes and motivations, and maintain a high degree of functional expertise in Slate as a means of helping clients be successful

  • Lead client implementations for clients in your areas of expertise, and assist colleagues with implementations for a range of clients to gain diverse experience

  • Utilize project management skills to ensure the implementation is progressing effectively and on schedule

  • Recommend areas for remediation, enhancement, and exploration

  • Lead client scoping and/or training sessions in either via MS Teams or in-person

  • Prepare custom training materials for clients based on their specific Slate business processes


Required Qualifications


  • Highly organized with an aptitude for working in a constantly changing environment and adapting changing priorities. This means being able to take on multiple projects, prioritize effectively, manage your time to meet deadlines, and eagerly tackle work that ranges from in-depth projects to ad‑hoc help and support.

  • Demonstrated project management experience. You are able to move projects forward even when time is limited and opinions differ.

  • Accountable with strong attention to detail. Ability to balance working independently with the proper judgement to decide when to update stakeholders or escal…

  • Experience with and/or belief in the importance of customer service as a foundational aspect of business success. You enjoy going the extra mile to make things right and people happy.

  • Possess a client‑centric attitude to listen with empathy and the ability to explain both technical and non‑technical concepts and issues

  • Well‑rounded Slate knowledge and abilities, including several areas of mastery

  • Technical Slate skills necessary to conduct root cause analysis, including relational database understanding, SQL, and a problem‑solving mindset

  • Experience with, or desire to learn, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and front‑end frameworks

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus 5+ years of professional work experience or 7-10 years + of professional work experience in higher education/CRM systems

  • 3+ years of advanced Slate use or Slate administrator experience
