Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; preference for experience in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities.
• Must read, write, and understand English; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Working knowledge of personal computers; computer literacy is highly desirable.
• Must have a valid CDL, clean driving record, and be able to transport participants; proof of auto insurance for personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Promote and adhere to the Supported Living Principles.
• Assist in developing and implementing support service activities and independent living training.
• Carry out specific skills training plans for participants as instructed.
• Assist participants with personal care needs (toilet, feeding, hygiene).
• Assist with mobility and communication needs; develop natural and community supports.
• Attend medical appointments and health needs; maintain detailed documentation of services.

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Program Manger is responsible for independent living skills training on a one-on-one basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED with a preference give to persons who have experience working in day or residential programs serving persons with disabilities.

Language Ability: Must possess ability to read, write and understand English. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions from supervisor.

Math Ability: Knowledge and ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.

Computer Skills: Must have working knowledge of personal computers. (Highly desirable)

Driving Skills: Must possess a valid CDL and have clean driving record as well as operate a vehicle in good working order for employee transportation. Must have proof of ongoing auto insurance on personal vehicle.
