Job summary

Community College of Allegheny County seeks a Skills Laboratory Instructor (Temp PT) at South Campus to develop and maintain a skills lab, meeting the general and individual needs of students related to developing skill competence.

The role requires medical assisting and phlebotomy experience, teaching readiness, and the ability to coordinate demonstrations, supervise practice, and support student proficiency, with some evening or Saturday hours.

Qualifications

• Medical assisting and phlebotomy clinical experience are required.
• Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree in Medical Assisting with certification.
• Phlebotomy certification or higher.
• Previous experience as an instructor.
• Proficient technical skills with ability to operate basic equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Meet with faculty to identify and clarify skills to be practiced and set up schedule for the semester.
• Coordinate and supervise skill demonstration, student practice of skills, and sign-offs for student proficiency.
• Provide availability of individual instruction for disadvantaged students as needed.
• Discuss with faculty individual student learning needs and provide progress updates every two weeks.
• Maintain a consistent schedule and record of attendance in skill lab.
• Maintain inventory, security, and functionality of equipment and supplies.
• Be available for MDA and PHB students according to schedules designed by the skills lab instructors and approved by the program coordinator.
• Maintain quality controls, all equipment, and adhere to industry standards.

Work Hours

Standard College hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm;
Flexible time schedule Monday through Friday, to include some evening /Saturdays.

5. Maintain a consistent schedule and record of attendance in skill lab.
6. Maintain inventory, security, and functionality of equipment and supplies.
7. Be available for MDA and PHB students according to schedules designed by the skills lab instructors and approved by the MDA or PHB program coordinator and faculty.
8. Maintain quality controls, all equipment, and adhere to industry standards.
