Job summary

Community College of Allegheny County is seeking a Skills Laboratory Instructor (Temp PT) at South Campus to develop and maintain a hands-on skills lab for medical assisting and phlebotomy students. This adjunct part-time role includes evenings and occasional Saturdays to support student learning and skill proficiency.

The position requires clinical experience in medical assisting and phlebotomy, with preferred qualifications including an Associate degree in Medical Assisting with certification

Qualifications

• Medical assisting and phlebotomy clinical experience are required.
• Preferred qualifications are an Associate degree in Medical Assisting with certification; Phlebotomy certification or higher; previous experience as an instructor.
• Proficient technical skills with ability to operate basic equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Meet with faculty to identify and clarify skills to be practiced and set up schedule for the semester.
• Coordinate and supervise skill demonstration, student practice of skills, and sign-offs for student proficiency.
• Provide availability of individual instruction for disadvantages for students as needed.
• Discuss with faculty individual student learning needs. Contact faculty members every two weeks with students' progress.
• Maintain a consistent schedule and record of attendance in skill lab.
• Maintain inventory, security, and functionality of equipment and supplies.
• Be available for MDA and PHB students according to schedules designed by the skills lab instructors and approved by the MDA or PHB program coordinator and faculty.
• Maintain quality controls, all equipment, and adhere to industry standards.

Education

Associate degree in Medical Assisting with certification

Phlebotomy certification or higher

Previous experience as an instructor

Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm; Flexible time schedule Monday through Friday, to include some evening /Saturdays.
