Job summary

The City of Scottsdale seeks a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator II to operate and maintain the City’s water and wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes, ensuring safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operation. This role requires a Grade 2 operator certification and relevant experience, with a starting salary up to mid-point depending on experience.

Anticipated mid-point is $37.72/hour; benefits include comprehensive health, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience operating advanced water/wastewater facilities.
• Experience with advanced computerized systems used in water/wastewater facilities.
• Experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• OR completion of Scottsdale Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator Apprentice Program or one year as Operator I meets experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Perform intermediate-level operational tasks to ensure safe, reliable plant operation.
• Monitor and control treatment processes and respond to alarms.
• Collaborate with team to optimize performance and compliance.
