Job summary

Thornton & Grooms Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is seeking a Skilled Trades Recruiter to own full-cycle recruiting for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Drains and other skilled trades. You’ll proactively source candidates, headhunt passive talent, and build strong pipelines to support growth.

You’ll partner with Operations and Employee Experience to attract pros who fit our culture and are committed to excellence in the trades. This role is on-site in Farmington Hills, MI.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
• Skilled trades, blue-collar, or technical recruiting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Drains, or related trades is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own full-cycle recruiting for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Drains, and other skilled trades positions.
• Proactively source and headhunt passive candidates for hard-to-fill roles.
• Build relationships with trade schools, apprenticeship programs, veteran organizations, and workforce development partners.
• Conduct phone screens and interviews and coordinate the hiring process with managers.
• Champion our employee referral program.
• Maintain strong candidate pipelines and deliver an exceptional candidate experience.
• Attend career fairs, trade shows, hiring events, and community events.
• Partner with Marketing on creative recruiting campaigns.
• Track recruiting results, including time-to-fill, source of hire, retention, and hiring goals.
• Manage candidate activity and maintain accurate records within our ATS.

The Big Task

We’re looking for a Thornton and Grooms Skilled Trades Recruiter who knows how to find great people—not just wait for them to apply. You’ll own full-cycle recruiting for our skilled trades positions, proactively sourcing and headhunting top talent while building strong pipelines for our future.

What We’re Looking For

• 1-3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience
• Skilled trades, blue-collar, or technical recruiting experience preferred
• Knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Drains, or related trades is a plus
• Proven ability to proactively source and recruit passive candidates
• Strong communication, interviewing, organization, and relationship-building skills
• Comfortable managing multiple openings in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with ATS platforms, recruiting technology, and Microsoft Office
