Job summary

Utica Community School District Auxiliary Services Facility in Sterling Heights, Michigan seeks a Skilled Trades Helper to assist maintenance staff across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and AV systems. Starting date: Immediate. Salary: $21 per hour.

This full-time role offers hands-on support within a busy facilities team. Under supervision, you will perform manual tasks, remove debris, follow safety procedures, and complete daily assignments.

Qualifications

• Required high school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to review, analyze and follow written directions.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a CDL Class B.
• Comfortable using standard technology for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist skilled trades staff in maintenance including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and AV.
• Assist with debris removal and general manual tasks in the maintenance department.
• Perform daily assignments under limited supervision and complete tasks.
• Follow established safety procedures and standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Auxiliary Services Supervisor

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to review, analyze and follow written directions.
• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B.
• Must possess competent technology skills applicable for daily responsibilities.

Description:

• Under Supervision, the Skilled Trades Helper will be responsible for providing assistance to Skilled Trade employees within the Maintenance Department.
• In addition, they will pick up debris and perform any type of common manual work in the Maintenance Department.

• Assist skilled tradesmen within the Maintenance Department. Areas of support include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and audio/visual.
• Remove debris and perform any type of common manual work in the Maintenance Department.
• Under limited supervision carry out assignments and complete work daily.
• Follow recommended and established safety procedures and standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $21 Per Hour
