Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of sheetmetal experience or related craft (joiner/shipfitting/carpentry).
• Proven experience in sheetmetal fabrication, layout, and installation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Skill using metalforming tools and performing shop mathematics.
• Strong commitment to precision, safety, and teamwork.
• Willingness to work in an active industrial environment supporting ship construction.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, cut, bend, form, and install sheetmetal components to exact specifications
• Build and install ductwork, venting systems, exhaust systems, metal containers, instrumentation panels, and shipboard structures
• Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, and other specifications using shop mathematics
• Use fabrication tools including brakes, shears, rollers, grinders, drills, layout tools, and measurement equipment
• Verify measurements, maintain accuracy, and ensure all work meets Ingalls craftsmanship and safety standards
• Work in shipyard environments that may involve heights, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions
• Support production across multiple shifts to meet ship construction schedules
