Job summary

Ector County Independent School District Maintenance Services in Odessa, Texas seeks a skilled General Carpenter to perform construction, repair, and installation work across district facilities. You’ll follow blueprints, plan cabinet and partition projects, and maintain safe, attractive structures and furniture while meeting schedules.

The role is nonexempt, reports to the Director of Maintenance, with wage between $20.25 and $27.97 per hour.

Qualifications

Valid Texas driver’s license.
Knowledge of carpentry, ability to read blueprints/diagrams.
Ability to use hand and power tools.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to measure and perform mathematical calculations.
Experience as skilled carpenter.

Responsibilities

Detect and complete repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following inspection procedures.
Plan and construct cabinets, shelves, and partitions from layout to assembly per plans and work orders.
Select materials and hardware and estimate time and materials.
Assist with the installation and moving of portable buildings including steps and underpinning.
Receive and complete work orders; respond to emergency calls as needed.
Maintain records on material and labor used.
Inspect jobs on completion and ensure areas are clean and materials removed as needed.
Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
