Job summary

Cesar Chavez Foundation is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Janitor in Avondale, AZ to keep property in top physical condition and ensure timely completion of resident service requests.

You will perform maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and repairs, coordinate with contractors, and assist with daily logs and inventory. The role requires safety awareness and teamwork across shifts and properties as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years general maintenance experience including plastering, painting, plumbing, carpentry.
• HVAC certification preferred but not required.
• Able to read, write and speak English.
• Able to communicate effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
• Effectively manage and solve practical problems with limited instructions.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform property maintenance and repairs as assigned by the Property Manager, including plastering, painting, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical tasks.
• Observe safety procedures; secure tools and wear appropriate safety gear.
• Complete janitorial duties in common areas and vacant units as requested.
• Prioritize and complete resident service requests with Property Manager guidance.
• Prepare properties for inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate and monitor vendors or outside contractors.
• Inspect property daily and report needed repairs.
• Troubleshoot equipment and arrange repairs with vendors as needed.
• Maintain equipment and cleaning supplies inventory and logs.
• Complete paperwork daily (maintenance schedules, work orders, inventory reports, logs).
• Assist in supplies orders and respond to after-hours emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned by Property Manager or Property Supervisor.
