Job summary

Rickabaugh Construction, LLC in Central Oregon is seeking a Skilled Pipelayer to support civil crews installing underground utilities on water, sewer, and storm drainage projects. You’ll work on jobsites, reading plans and grade stakes, with safety and efficiency as priorities.

This hands-on role requires experience with pipe grades, trench safety, and working around heavy equipment. You’ll join a dependable team and contribute to critical infrastructure while following company safety policies

Qualifications

• Proven experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, storm).
• Strong understanding of pipe grades, elevations, and trench safety practices.
• Ability to read plans, grade stakes, and follow foreman direction.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work including lifting, shoveling, and working in trenches.
• Strong attention to safety and teamwork.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Install underground utility systems including water, sewer, and storm piping.
• Set pipe grade and alignment using lasers, levels, and grade stakes.
• Assist with trench preparation, bedding, pipe placement, and backfill operations.
• Work closely with excavator operators to safely guide pipe placement and trenching.
• Install manholes, catch basins, vaults, and other underground structures.
• Perform trench safety practices including shoring and proper slope.
• Assist with utility tie-ins, testing, and system inspections as required.
• Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and utility layouts.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all safety policies.
• Safely work around active equipment, traffic, and changing jobsite conditions.

• Familiarityoperatingbackfillequipment
