Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and write.
• Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.
• Ability to pass the respirator physical examination.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle heavier containers with equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled spray painting related to complex and high quality production painting.
• Prepare, apply, and verify coatings and surface preparation requirements to meet customer specifications.
• Ensure substrates are clean and free of contaminants that could affect adhesion, appearance, or coating integrity.
• Mix and apply coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications and required application timeframes.
• Produce consistent finishes without runs, sags, thin spots, heavy spots, or other coating defects.
• Adjust paint and process parameters based on temperature, humidity, coating conditions, or other factors.
• Repair, blend, and rework coating defects to achieve a smooth, high quality finish.
• Verify proper coating thickness using wet mil or dry film gauges.
• Perform complex painting and finishing techniques including color mixing and buffing.
• Paint complex aerial components such as ladders, baskets, turntables, walkways, and egresses.
• Perform daily and weekly cleaning and preventive maintenance on painting and mixing equipment.
• Monitor and maintain grounding and air filtration systems as required.
