Job summary

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission is seeking a skilled painter to work on exteriors and interiors of buildings and equipment. Under general supervision, you will apply paints, prepare surfaces, mix colors, operate painting equipment, and maintain tools while complying with safety standards.

The role requires completion of an approved painters' apprenticeship and two years of journey-level painting experience, including exterior/interior work, plus a valid California Class C driver’s

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized painters' apprenticeship program.
• Two years of verifiable journey-level painting experience (exteriors/interiors).
• Valid California Class C driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Applies paints and finishes to exterior/interior of buildings, equipment, and structures.
• Prepares surfaces, erects scaffolding, and patches surfaces prior to painting.
• Selects and mixes colors, prepares paints and other coatings.
• Operates painting equipment and cleans tools; handles hazardous materials.
• Occasionally performs lettering and touch-up work.
• Transports and delivers paint and equipment to the worksite.
• May plan work programs and estimate materials.
• Prepares estimates, work orders and other job-related documentation.
