Job summary

San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) seeks a skilled Painter to perform exterior and interior painting of buildings, structures, and equipment. The role requires completing a painters' apprenticeship and two years of journey-level experience with a mix of interior, exterior, roadways, and airfield work.

The position is full-time and exempt for up to 36 months, with travel to sites and potential use of scaffolding, with safety as a priority.

Qualifications

Completion of a recognized painters' apprenticeship program.
Two years verifiable journey-level painter experience including exteriors/interiors, roadways and airfields.
Valid California Class C driver's license.
Education substitution: experience may substitute for apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

Apply paints and finishes to building exteriors/interiors, including partitions, woodwork, and fixtures.
Prepare surfaces by scaffolding setup, scraping, sanding, and patching.
Mix and match paints, lacquers, and varnishes; select colors.
Operate painting equipment (spray guns, pressure washer, grinders) and maintain tools.
Perform occasional advanced painting, lettering and touch-ups.
Transport paint and equipment to the worksite.
Assist with estimating materials and writing work orders.
