• Active, unrestricted California NP or PA license.
• AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, FNP-BC, or PA-C certification.
• Active DEA registration.
• Background in pain management, orthopedics, SNF rounding, or hospice with controlled-substance prescribing.
• Able to travel between partner facilities in Sacramento and Richmond, CA.

Responsabilidades

• Assess each resident’s pain during focused rounding visits, including location, severity, and response to current treatment.
• Adjust individualized treatment plans combining pharmacological, non-pharmacological, and interventional approaches for acute and chronic pain.
• Prescribe and manage pain medications, including controlled substances, in line with state and federal regulations.
• Coordinate referrals for physical therapy, acupuncture, spinal blocks, and other interventional techniques.
• Educate patients and families on pain management strategies, coping mechanisms, and lifestyle changes.
• Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other providers to keep care coordinated.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in TEBRA and PointClickCare.
• Build strong working relationships with leadership and staff at each partner facility.

Job Overview

Keep your day job and add about $4,000 a month. A growing geriatric pain management practice is expanding in Northern California. It’s looking for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to round on skilled nursing residents in Sacramento and Richmond, CA, on their own schedule: before clinic, after clinic, on weekends, or on days off. This is an independent contractor role, not a full-time or part-time job, built for clinicians who want to earn more on top of a primary role. Visits are focused on pain, with no full head-to-toe exam. Most providers see 10 to 15 residents an hour and finish rounds in 4 to 5 hours. You’ll see the same residents week after week, adjust their treatment, and coordinate with facility staff. Malpractice with tail coverage and a formal onboarding program are included. New graduates are welcome, especially those with an RN background in ortho, pain management, SNF, or high-volume ER.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California NP or PA license
• AGACNP-BC, AGPCNP-BC, FNP-BC, or PA-C certification
• Active DEA registration
• Comfortable prescribing and managing medications, including controlled substances
• Able to travel between partner facilities in Sacramento and Richmond, CA
• Background in pain management, orthopedics, physiatry, SNF rounding, or hospice with controlled-substance prescribing
• New graduates welcome if their RN background includes ortho, pain management, SNF, or high-volume emergency care. County or trauma ER experience is a big plus.
• Strong communication skills, compassion, and critical thinking

Schedule & Compensation

• Independent contractor (1099), fee-for-service: $10 per patient visit, about $90 to $150 per hour spent seeing residents
• Most providers see 10 to 15 residents per hour, and some facilities have two residents per room
• Average day: about 40 patients in 4 to 5 hours (roughly $400)
• Earning potential: about $4,000/month (roughly 400 visits)
