Job summary

BJ’s Wholesale Club in New York’s Valley Stream area is seeking a Meat Cutter for the meat department. You will cut, grind, and merchandise fresh meats, assist in seafood and deli, and uphold sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include preparing special cuts for Members, rotating stock, and maintaining product presentation. Prior meat cutting experience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are required. Weekly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Completion of a training program or apprenticeship is required.
• Previous meat cutting experience is required.
• Knowledge of automatic/hand wrapping machines is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Engages and assists Members by making recommendations regarding meat, poultry, and seafood and prepares special cuts ordered by Members.
• Cuts, grinds, and processes fresh meats to company standards; weighs, packages, wraps, and labels accordingly.
• Maintains meat case presentation and ensures appropriate inventory levels and sanitation across the department.
• Rotates meats and other products by expiration dates and disposes of damaged items per guidelines.
• Performs other duties in related departments as needed.
• Regular, unpredictable, full attendance is required.
