Skilled Laborer Telecom Underground (G2024)

Join us! Underground Skilled Helper duties will include general labor duties related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.

What you’ll do…

• All phases of underground construction include but are not limited to: loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment
• Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
• Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
• Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Work in congested or remote areas
• Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination
• Perform general construction work under the direction of Foreman/Supervisor
• Maintain safe working habits and conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies

Who we’re looking for…

• Minimum 2 years of machine experience with rock saw, micro trench, backhoe, excavator, and skid steer
• Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various utility trucks and equipment safely
• Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and equipment safely
• Effective communication skills with customers, employees, etc.
• Regular and timely attendance is essential
• Ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential for overtime, after-hours, weekends, emergencies, or on-call work

Preferred Qualifications

• Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• 6 months of experience in utility construction
• Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify underground utilities

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle or feel with hands and fingers, reach high and low, and perform various movements during shift
• Work while wearing safety boots, glasses, and hardhat
• Work in adverse weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, sleet, dust, and challenging driving conditions
• Exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens possible
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
