Skilled Laborer Telecom Underground (G2024)
Join us! The Underground Skilled Helper will perform general labor duties related to telecommunications construction under the direction of the Foreman/Supervisor.
Responsibilities include:
- Participating in all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various construction materials and equipment.
- Hand digging using shovels and mechanical tools.
- Installing and maintaining underground telecommunications cabling.
- Climbing into and out of equipment such as trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc.
- Operating or working around heavy equipment and machinery.
- Working in congested or remote areas.
- Maintaining visual and audible contact with crew members and ensuring safe coordination of movements.
- Performing general construction work as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Adhering to safety regulations and maintaining safe working conditions.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of machine experience with rock saw, micro trench, backhoe, excavator, and skid steer.
- Basic knowledge and safe operation of utility trucks and equipment.
- Proficiency with hand tools and equipment.
- Effective communication skills.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Ability to work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime, after-hours, weekends, or on-call work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- 6 months of experience in utility construction.
- Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, crouch, sit, bend, handle tools, reach, and perform various physical activities during shifts.
- Work while wearing safety boots, glasses, and hardhat.
- Work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, sleet, and dust.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, or airborne pathogens.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and up to 100 lbs as needed.
