Lehman-Roberts Company in Memphis is seeking a Skilled Asphalt Grading/Paving Laborer to support paving projects. You will perform rake/lute work, shovel tasks, assist screed operator, and move materials.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, physical stamina, and ability to lift 50–100 pounds; full-time with benefits including health, 401(k), and paid time off.

Responsibilities

• Follow Foreman directions for daily tasks on each project.
• Assist screed operator with ski pole and electronics when needed.
• Lute joints and hand work sections not placed by paver.
• Communicate with screed/paver operators about joints and mix.
• Fill holes and repair pavement imperfections as required.
• Assist in placing, moving, and dismantling traffic control devices.
• At shift end, clean tools and assist in equipment cleaning.

General Summary

The Skilled Asphalt Grading/Paving Laborer position is responsible for performing various duties on construction and/or paving projects. The employee will generally work in utility capacity by transferring from one task to another where demands are required.Duties include but are not limited to rake/lute work, shovel work, dump person, and training as a screed operator and small equipment operator.

Essential Job Accountabilities

• Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
• Assist screed operator with ski pole and electronics.
• Lute joints and hand work sections that cannot be placed by paver.
• Communicate with screed operator and paver operator about joints/mix.
• Fill holes and repair all pavement imperfections when needed.
• Communicate with roller men when mix is ready to be rolled.
• Assists in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
• At close of shift, clean tools and assist in cleaning equipment.

Education
