Job summary

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is seeking Skilled Laborers to join our team across multiple sites. The role involves outdoor work in all seasons and collaboration with heavy equipment operators to ensure safe, efficient project progress.

Responsibilities include site preparation, trenching, erosion control, and performing manual labor while adhering to all safety policies. Candidates must be able to lift, wear PPE, and pass pre-employment screenings. Start times vary, with overtime possible.

Qualifications

• Outdoor work in all seasons.
• Communicate with operators, workers and pedestrians.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment.
• Moderate to heavy lifting and frequent bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling and squatting.
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging, traffic closures and related tasks as assigned.
• Site preparation: clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, clear rubble and debris.
• Install erosion and sediment controls (e.g., silt fence).
• Willingness to perform manual labor supporting projects.
• Wear safety toe boots, long pants and shirts with four-inch sleeves.
• Use PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, class 3 vests and gloves) provided by the company.
• Work on a variety of tasks within any given day.
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and co-workers.

Skilled Laborer

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is accepting applications for Skilled Laborers to join our team.

Qualifications

• Work in outdoor environments during all seasons
• Comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and able to communicate with operators, workers and pedestrians
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment and training
• Moderate to heavy lifting (more than 15 pounds) and frequent pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting
• Working knowledge of hand and power tools
• Must pass pre‑employment physical/drug screening

Responsibilities

• Perform flagging, traffic closures and related tasks as assigned
• Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support sides of excavations, clear rubble and debris, and remove waste materials
• Install erosion and sediment controls, such as silt fence, super silt fence and gutter buddies
• Willingness to perform manual labor supporting projects
• Wear safety toe boots, long pants and shirts with four‑inch sleeves
• Use required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, class 3 vests and gloves) provided by the company
• Work on a variety of tasks within any given day
• Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met
• Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and co‑workers

Job Details

Job Type: Full‑Time, Year‑Round
Location: Various job sites
Working Hours: Start varies between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. Overtime, nights and weekends may be required.
