Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors, LLC is seeking a Skilled Laborer to join our Northern Virginia team. You will perform on-site tasks, follow construction plans, and assist trades workers to help projects run smoothly and safely.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year in commercial construction, a High School Diploma or GED, and reliable transportation. You must bring basic hand tools; company provides power tools and safety training as needed.

Qualifications

• One year or more of experience in commercial construction.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.
• Ability to take measurements and make calculations.
• Good communication skills both oral and written.
• Must pass skills tests per jobsite.
• Must maintain tool and workspace organization.

Responsibilities

• Uses required tools to complete assigned tasks on the job site.
• Follows instructions from supervisors and implements construction plans.
• Assists other trades workers on the job site.
• Builds and takes down scaffolding or temporary structures, as required.
• Maintains jobsite cleanliness, removing any safety hazards and following material disposal protocol.
• Assists with loading and unloading materials and equipment, distributing them to the appropriate locations as directed.
• Directs traffic during roadway construction, as required.
• Assists with maintenance of construction tools or equipment.
• Keeps immediate working area clean. Must use broom and wheelbarrows and follow material procedures.
• Identifies and reports safety hazards. Takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.

What You Will Do:

As a Skilled Laborer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Expected Hours of Work and Travel:

Full time position, occasional extended hours and weekends may apply. Construction may, at times, continue around the clock to meet deadlines. Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.

Pay:

$25.00-$32.00

Required Education and Experience

• One (1) or more years of experience in commercial construction.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Must understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.
• Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
• Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Must pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.
• Ability to problem solve when errors occur.
• Keep tools and workspace organized.
• Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.
• Must have own hand tools, power tools to be provided by Christman.
