Job summary

Christman Mid-Atlantic Constructors, LLC in Northern Virginia is seeking a Laborer to support construction sites with site preparation, material handling, and tool usage. You will follow supervisor directions, assist with scaffolding, and help maintain a safe, organized work area.

Responsibilities include directing traffic during roadway work, reporting hazards, and adhering to all safety requirements. Requires reliability, willingness to travel up to 60 miles daily, and the ability to use

Qualifications

• No minimum experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• One (1) or more years of experience in commercial construction may be preferred.

• Assists with loading and unloading materials and equipment, distributing them to the appropriate locations as directed.
• Uses required tools to complete assigned tasks on the job site.

• Builds and takes down scaffolding or temporary structures, as required. Assists with maintenance of construction tools or equipment.
• Keeps immediate working area clean. Must use broom and wheelbarrows and follow material procedures.
• Identifies and reports safety hazards. Takes all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
• Demonstrates safe working practices and complies with all safety requirements.

What You Will Do:

As a Laborer, your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.

Expected Hours of Work and Travel: Full time position, occasional extended hours and weekends may apply. Must have reliable transportation. Must be willing to travel 60 miles a day dependent on project location relative to where the employee lives.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Required Education and Experience

• No minimum experience required.

Preferred Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) or more years of experience in commercial construction.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must understand safety rules and tool/equipment instructions.
• Have the ability to take measurements and make calculations.
• Have good communication skills both orally and in writing.
• Must pass any skills tests as required by the jobsite.
• Ability to problem solve when errors occur. Keep tools and workspace organized.
• Must be conscious of time schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Must be able to tolerate heights without fear.
• Must have own hand tools, power tools to be provided by Christman.
