Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Panel Builder in Carol Stream, IL to assemble, wire, and test industrial electrical control panels for machinery and equipment. The role requires foundational electrical knowledge to ensure panels meet quality and safety standards and are ready for production.

You will work in a hands-on, shop-floor environment with a small team and clear safety expectations. Responsibilities include reading blueprints and schematics, wiring PLC components, testing with multimeters, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school preferred.
• Experience building electrical panels and wiring in a production setting.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Proficient in basic electrical testing with multimeters and continuity testers.
• Knowledge of NEC and UL electrical codes.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electrical control panels, enclosures, and junction boxes per instructions.
• Wire and terminate switches, relays, fuses, circuit breakers, PLCs, and devices.
• Inspect wiring and components for accuracy using testing tools.
• Follow safety policies and electrical standards on all tasks.
• Collaborate with shop personnel to integrate panels with machinery.
• Perform preventive maintenance and basic machine building tasks when needed.
• Communicate progress and issues to Electrical Lead or leadership.
