Job summary

Great Western Dining Service at Murray State College is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must follow instructions, move deftly in a busy kitchen, and multitask to deliver consistent quality.

You will set up stations, prepare ingredients, and cook items for various meal periods while adhering to HACCP and safety policies. A collaborative team player with good communication is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as cook.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling).
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow sanitation procedures.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Very good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies
