Great Western Dining Service at Murray State College is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking.

Responsibilities include setting up workstations, preparing ingredients, cooking for various meal periods or events, following recipes, presenting dishes, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring proper storage while adhering to HACCP and safety policies.

Formación

Cook

Great Western Dining Service at our Murray State College location is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals. An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is important.

Responsibilities:

• Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Prepare, portion, cook food items for various meal periods or special events
• Ability to follow basic recipes and production information
• Ensure great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
• Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
• Follow all company HACCP and safety policies

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as cook
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
• Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Very good communication skills
